The political-data removal, in Blackbaud's words
"To comply with applicable laws, FEC (political donations) will no longer be returned in WealthPoint screenings."
Blackbaud Knowledge Base, article 194450, "Why is FEC data (political donations) missing from WealthPoint results?", effective 2020-10-31. Unconfirmed FEC records were purged at the same time. Blackbaud's ResearchPoint help files still describe a political-donations tab, but the screening no longer populates it.
DonorGraph's position is that campaign-finance records are public precisely so the public can read them. Every profile shows the itemized filing: date, committee, amount, and employer as the donor reported it, linked to the source. It is presented as one line of evidence among several, next to property, securities and board service, and the gift officer decides what it means. Kindsight made a similar call to Blackbaud's and keeps FEC data out of its scores; DonorGraph counts it.

Where DonorGraph is different
The signal WealthPoint stopped returning is in every profile
Federal and state political contributions are itemized: date, committee, amount, and employer as the donor reported it. For most major-gift prospects this is the most recent public financial act on record, and it is one of the few public records that carries a self-reported employer, which makes it useful for identity resolution as well as for capacity.
Live property, not a nightly file
DonorGraph looks up property ownership at screen time, parses co-owners and trusts from the deed record, and shows the parcel behind the number. A donor who moved last month screens correctly this month. Blackbaud's nightly WealthPoint refresh excludes real estate and giving, and an address change does not trigger a re-screen.

Can I use DonorGraph if my CRM is Raiser's Edge NXT?
Yes. Export a constituent list, screen it in DonorGraph, and import the results back as attributes or notes using the Raiser's Edge NXT CSV format. Enterprise adds an API, and native connectors are in progress. Your CRM stays where it is and your giving history stays yours.
Does DonorGraph replace ResearchPoint?
For the screening and profile-building part, yes: every DonorGraph search returns a complete cited profile and AI brief. For Blackbaud-specific workflows (prospect management inside RE NXT, ResearchPoint's research lists), keep those tools and use DonorGraph as the evidence layer.
Why does political giving matter for fundraising?
Federal and state political contributions are public record, self-reported with employer and address, and are among the strongest public indicators of both discretionary capacity and civic affinity. A screening that omits them is missing a signal that costs nothing to include.
